Membership

Please note: Although we are a membership club, our dinners are open to all.

Attendees at our dinners must follow two rules:

  1. You must not be boring.
  2. You must follow the Chatham House Rule: “Participants are free to use the information received, but neither the identity nor the affiliation of the speakers, nor that of any other participant, may be revealed”.

Becoming a Member

There are three categories of membership in the Real Time Club: associate, full and life.

Associate Membership

Associate membership in the Real Time Club is open to all and is free of charge. Associate members are of course welcome at our dinners, and also receive email notices of Club events (only about one per month) and access to members' area of the Club website. To become an associate member all you need to do is register here!

Full Membership

Full members have the right to:

  1. Participate in governance of the Club -- including standing for election to the Club's Council, proposing other full members for office, voting in elections for the Council, and voting on changes to the Club’s constitution
  2. Propose topics for speakers to address at dinners of the Club, and take a role in organising a proposed dinner where agreed by the Council
  3. Receive priority in attendance at Club dinners that are over-subscribed
  4. Propose good causes, projects and special areas of interest to be supported and/or promoted by the Club

Full membership is also free of charge, but full members agree to attend at least one dinner in every Club year, which runs from 1 September to 31 August in the following year.

To become a full member, please send a completed application form (download here) along with a brief CV to the Club Administrator, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . The application form requires you to identify a current full member who supports your membership. Your application will be considered at the next meeting of the Council. New members are formally welcomed into the Club at the first dinner that they attend.

The Council reserves the right to refuse to renew or discontinue the membership of any member in accordance with the Club's Constitution and Standing Orders.
